This new holiday home for a young family is located on the site of a former stone cottage in a scenic rural area of Co. Westmeath set against a backdrop of rolling green hills and lakes. The form of the house is derived from the form of a traditional Irish cottage. It is single storey with a dual aspect to the main living areas and master bedroom. There are two wings interconnected by the entrance hallway. Bespoke timber sliding doors open off the main living areas and bedrooms onto terraces to the private south side of the house. Natural materials were used in the finishes throughout, Italian travertine stone and french oak to the floors, various stones to the bathrooms and fireplaces, painted T&G boarding to the vaulted ceilngs of the main living areas, natural slate to the roof and bespoke iroko doors and windows.
