House Extension

Blackrock, Co. Dublin

This project involved transforming a dilapidated two bedroomed cottage into a light filled four bedroomed family home. Traditional materials including a slate roof and timber framed sash windows were used so that it was fitting with the original 1930’s cottage. The use of a courtyard allowed plenty of light to flood into the internal spaces. Double doors lead from the kitchen, dining area, living room and master bedroom onto south facing terraces. An Italian travertine floor is used for much of the flooring. As the client for this project was a book lover, a library was provided with rooflights above in the hallway. Vaulted ceilings with hardwood beams were provided to the kitchen, dining, living and master bedroom spaces.
