DMVF were approached by the owners of this three storey terraced Victorian house in order to design an extension and remodelling to to the ground floor. It was vital that any new materials used were in keeping and respectful of the original Victorian house. The proposal was to add two extensions to the existing kitchen space in order to create a large light filled and open plan family room. This room opens onto the south west facing garden. A roof-light was used in the roof over the dining area to pull light into the rear of the existing house. We used a very large island unit as a central congregation area between the three spaces. Traditional materials including stock bricks, slate roofs and timber framed windows were all used in this project.
