DMVF Architects thoroughly enjoyed working on the extension and refurbishment of this Edwardian red brick terraced coastal home in South County Dublin. Our clients wished to remodel and extend the house to create a family home suitable for modern day living while also preserving the original style and character of the house.

A light filled kitchen, dining and informal seating area are accommodated in the light filled rear extension. Slim framed triple sliding doors open onto a level terrace in the facing rear garden, allowing a direct connection between the internal and external areas.

Original features such as brickwork, timber work, plaster cornices, fireplaces and staircases were restored and the house was insulated in a sensitive manner and underfloor heating was introduced in the ground floor to provide a warm, cosy and comfortable living space. A palette of beautiful natural materials such as smoked oak herringbone flooring and stone tiles were used throughout. Contemporary light fittings, furniture and art sit comfortably alongside antique furniture and original period features which successfully creates a timeless character in the house.
