This project required all of our conservation and restoration expertise. Our brief was to restore and re-imagine this dilapidated Regency villa. When our clients purchased this important Protected Structure the existing house contained magnificent original features, but the layouts were somewhat outdated and the house required significant restoration and an imaginative re-working of the layout. Impressive reception rooms faced the garden but were underused. A tiny sitting room and small kitchen faced into a side passage which made them dark and separated from the rest of the house. We cleverly re-imagined the layout by moving the open plan family space into the main reception rooms. A raised terrace links these rooms to the garden and a modernist glass box staircase extension creates a link to the previously dark and unconnected basement.
