DMVF Architects were asked to remodel and extend this beautiful 5 bedroom, detached, red-brick house in Dublin 13. Our clients wanted to breathe new life into their early 20th Century home. To achieve this, we constructed a bright, open plan extension to the rear of the property & a two-storey extension to the side.
A 4-metre-long kitchen island serves as the focal point of the extension. The floor to ceiling corner window allows the sunken sitting room to be flooded with light creating an airy atmosphere. Our clients have a keen interest in art so we wanted the design to incorporate large white walls to house their painting collection. Bright tones are used throughout the extension to give a spacious feel to the room.
When remodelling the older parts of the house we used darker, richer colours in order to keep with the theme of the original structure. We also carried out an attic conversion, transforming the unused space into a beautiful bedroom.
